ADULT WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
Classes are small and provide a lot of personal attention from the instructor. Our classes emphasize instruction with hands on practice. You will be surprised at how much you can learn in a short time!
One of the best thing about our workshops are all of the materials (except for silk screening) are provided!! Discounts are provided to students who purchase other materials in the store.
Reservations and deposit is required. If you have to cancel, course fees can be applied to another class if cancellation is made within 24 hours.
The Art of Observation - Drawing is an intimate gate to examine our relationships to our surroundings to others and to ourselves. Through a unique observation method, we will look beyond our preconceptions and investigate what truly is before us. Pencil, pen & ink, or charcoal. No prior experience required. Beading - Learn the basics of bead necklace assembly while making your own beaded necklace (if there’s time, matching earrings too!). $35
Intro to Charcoal - Learn charcoal techniques (vine vs. compressed, shading, using your eraser) drawing from a still life. $25
Comic Book Drawing for Adults - Create a comic book diary - illustrate the events of the day. $25
Decorate a “Onesie” Baby Gift - New moms can never have enough “onesies”! Put your own personal stamp - brush strokes on one of our washable, non-toxic fabric paints, or bring your friends make it a pre-shower party! $20
Decoupage - Glamorize a plain glass plate or vase with decoupage. Learn basic design considerations, and how to apply and seal your design. $20
Drawing Techniques - The next step after learning the basics of drawing. Learn the finer points of drawing, including perspective, composition and refining your technique. $20
Eat & Drink the Still Life - An evening still life drawing session (materials of your own choosing except oil) with an artist’s social hour afterward, enjoy the food and wine you just drew! $20
Exploring Park Slope thru a Lens - Introductory photography workshop, learning the foundations of using your camera by exploring the neighborhood and seeing it in a different perspective - thru your “lens.”
Intro to Drawing - Learn and practice basic drawing techniques, including recognizing the basic shapes and forms of objects, light and shadow, various shading techniques, as well as the proportions of the human body. $20
Intro to Dry Brush Techniques with Oil Paints - Learn dry brush techniques to create an interesting look to your painting. $25
Mosaics (2 sessions) - Learn basic techniques of planning ahead to create the mosaic design ,and then adhering and grouting ceramic and glass tiles on a wooden box top. $35
Oil Painting Miniatures - Practice basic oil painting techniques by painting a still life on a small canvas. Learn color, brush strokes and how to work with oils. $25
Open Life Drawing - Work on your own with a clothed model - space is intimate so focus of drawing is more on physical features. $10
Paint a Jewelry Box - Personalize and paint a jewelry box (has a beautiful red velvet finish inside). $20
The Art of Observing with Pen & Ink - This workshop will cover the foundations of pen & ink using drawing nibs and ink. $25
Printmaking (2 sessions)- Learn basic printmaking techniques by carving into a linoleum block and printing your design. Great opportunity to create your own greeting card design! $30
Silkscreening - Make Your Own T-shirt (2 sessions) - Express yourself on a
T-shirt and learn basic silk screening techniques (actual “burning” of screen will be done outside - technique will be discussed). Participants keep their screen. $50 & $25 screen fee
Intro to Silver Art Clay - Make your own 98% pure silver jewelry with Silver Art Clay - a clay-like material that’s made of silver particles suspended in a binder. Shape it like clay, fire it and polish it all in our studio and in one session! Take home your unique pendant, and/or set of fabulous earrings. $45
Learn to Stretch Your Own Canvas - Learn the basics of stretching canvas. $25
